Design Patterned Floors and Walls with Tiles and Bricks
Understand Your Options
Stoneworks provides both tile and brick variations for each stone type. Tiles are typically smaller and create a more uniform pattern, while bricks offer a traditional masonry appearance. Both can be cut from the stonecutter.
Cut Your Blocks
Place stone blocks in the stonecutter and select either the tile or brick option. Cut enough blocks to cover your desired floor or wall area. Consider cutting a mix of both types if you want to create a checkerboard or alternating pattern.
Create Patterns
Place tiles or bricks in rows, experimenting with:
- Straight horizontal or vertical lines
- Alternating colors using different stone types (sandstone and deepslate, for example)
- Checkerboard patterns mixing tiles and bricks
- Diagonal arrangements for visual movement
Enhance with Slabs
Cut matching slabs from the same stone type to add borders, trim, or raised edges around your tiled areas. This creates definition and prevents your pattern from looking flat. Slabs also work well as baseboards or crown molding details.
