Create a Complete Stone Staircase Using the Stonecutter
Gather Your Stone Base
Start by collecting your chosen stone type—whether it's deepslate, blackstone, sandstone, or any vanilla stone variant. You'll need enough raw stone to craft into your desired stair blocks.
Convert to Stairs in the Stonecutter
Place a stonecutter and open its interface. Put your stone blocks inside. The stonecutter will display all available cutting options for that stone type, including stair variants. Select the stair option that matches your stone.
The stonecutter is more efficient than crafting stairs in a regular crafting table, giving you more stairs per stone block.
Build Your Staircase
Once you have your stairs, place them in the direction you want them to face. You can rotate stairs by right-clicking them to change which way they ascend. Mix and match different stone variations—like combining regular stone stairs with cobbled stone stairs—to create visual interest and texture variety in your build.
Pro Tip
Use the stonecutter to also create matching slabs and walls from the same stone type. This lets you create cohesive architectural details around your staircase, like railings or trim work.
