Using Stepping to Navigate Terrain

Walking Up Blocks with Stepping

Once you have Stepping enchanted boots equipped, you can walk up full-height blocks automatically without needing to jump.

How it works:

1. Equip your Stepping boots

2. Walk toward a block that's one full block higher than your current position

3. Instead of jumping, simply continue walking forward—you'll step up onto the block smoothly

4. This works on stairs, slabs, and terrain changes

Practical Applications

  • Climbing terrain: Navigate hilly or mountainous areas without repeatedly jumping
  • Building access: Walk up to your base entrance without jumping
  • Escaping mobs: Move over obstacles faster than enemies that must jump
  • Exploring: Traverse uneven cave floors and cliff faces more efficiently

Stepping works similarly to how horses move over terrain, making vertical navigation feel natural and reducing fatigue from constant jumping. The enchantment is particularly useful when carrying heavy loads or when you need to move quickly across broken ground.
