Survive Your First Landing on Mars

Prepare Before Landing

Before descending to Mars, craft a pressurized suit and oxygen tank in your rocket. Pack extra oxygen canisters, food, and a bed—you'll need them. Mars has a thin atmosphere, so you cannot breathe without protection.

Handle Dust Storms

Dust storms on Mars reduce visibility dramatically and can damage your equipment and solar panels. When a storm begins, seek shelter in a cave or build a basic structure quickly. Storms occur in four phases and will eventually pass. Avoid operating exposed machinery during active storms, as panels and devices may malfunction or take damage.

Gather Resources Safely

Mars contains valuable ores like desh. Mine during clear weather when you can see threats and manage your oxygen supply. Stay near your landing site initially—the terrain includes canyons, dunes, and volcanic regions that can be disorienting. Mark your path back to your rocket with torches or blocks.

Manage Temperature

Mars has extreme temperature swings between day and night. Keep your suit charged and stay indoors during the coldest periods. Build a small base with a furnace and crafting table near your landing zone to establish a safe resupply point.
