How to Test and Troubleshoot Your Starter Kit

Verifying the Kit Works

After configuring your kit, you want to be sure new players actually receive it before opening your server to the public.

1. Back up the config file so you can restore it if a test goes wrong.

2. Use a second account or clear a test player's data so the mod sees them as a first-time joiner.

3. Join the world and check each slot — hotbar, main inventory, armor, and offhand — against what you configured.

4. If items are missing or in the wrong slots, re-run /starterkit set with a corrected inventory, or fix the config file entry.

Common Problems

If a returning player does not get the kit, that is expected: the mod only applies it to first-time joiners, or to players whose inventory is completely empty and who log in near spawn. If nothing is delivered at all, confirm the config file exists at the correct path and that the world or server was restarted after editing. If only some items appear, check that each entry targets a valid slot and that item IDs and NBT tags are spelled correctly. Restoring your backup and reapplying changes one at a time makes it easy to isolate a bad entry.
