How to Set a Custom Starter Kit Using Your Own Inventory

Using the /starterkit set Command

The fastest way to build a starter kit is to fill your own inventory with exactly the items you want new players to receive, then run a single command. Arrange items in the exact slots you want them to appear in — the mod copies slot positions, not just the item list.

1. Make sure you have cheat access enabled (in singleplayer, open your world to LAN with cheats, or enable cheats in the world settings).

2. Place every item you want in the kit into the exact inventory slots, armor slots, or offhand slot you want new players to spawn with.

3. Run /starterkit set.

4. The mod writes your current inventory layout to the config file and renames the previous config so you can recover it if needed.

Why Slot Placement Matters

Because the mod records which slot each item occupies, you can guarantee a new player starts with, for example, a sword in the hotbar and armor already equipped. If you just want a loose pile of items, drop them anywhere — but if you want a specific loadout, arrange them deliberately before running the command. After running it, join with a fresh test account or clear a test player's data to confirm the kit appears correctly.
