How to Use Fishing Bobbers to Improve Your Catches

What Bobbers Do

Bobbers are attachments for your fishing rod that modify the minigame or the rewards. You do not fish with a bobber as bait; instead you equip it to the rod so its effect applies on every cast. Each bobber type targets a different goal, so pick one that matches what you are hunting.

Choosing the Right Bobber

  • Cork Bobber – makes the minigame easier by giving you a larger control bar, good for tough species.
  • Trap Bobber – reduces the penalty when the fish escapes your bar, useful for erratic fish.
  • Quality Bobber – pushes caught fish toward higher quality tiers.
  • Treasure Bobber – increases the chance of pulling up treasure alongside fish.
  • Sonar Bobber – shows which fish is hooked before you commit to reeling.

Practical Tips

For rare or high-difficulty fish, start with the Cork or Trap Bobber to reliably land them, then switch to the Quality Bobber once you can win consistently. Use the Sonar Bobber when farming a specific species so you can ignore unwanted bites. Keep a few bobbers in your inventory and swap them at the water's edge rather than carrying multiple rods.
