Protect Your Base from Spreading Wildfires
Create Firebreaks
Wildfires spread rapidly, especially downwind. Build defensive barriers around your base:
- Water channels: Dig trenches and fill them with water. Fire cannot cross flowing water, and it acts as a permanent firebreak.
- Cleared zones: Remove all flammable blocks (wood, leaves, grass) in a wide perimeter around your builds. Aim for at least 10–15 blocks of bare earth or stone.
- Wet ground: Use splash water bottles to pre-wet the ground around your base. Wet blocks resist ignition longer.
Active Defense
Keep firefighting tools ready:
- Stock fire extinguishers: Position them near your base entrance and vulnerable structures. They spray up to six blocks and smother flames quickly.
- Water buckets: Place water sources on roofs and near wooden structures for emergency use.
- Monitor wind: Use
/wildfire windto check wind direction. Fires spread faster downwind, so prioritize defense on that side. - Roof materials: Replace wood with stone, brick, or other non-flammable blocks on exposed roofs.
If a fire approaches, use your extinguisher before embers reach your buildings. Embers can travel over ten blocks, so act early.
