How to Stack Potions in Your Inventory

Understanding the Stacking Rule

With Stackable Potions installed, every potion type — regular, splash, and lingering — stacks together instead of sitting in single slots. The key thing to remember is that potions only merge into one stack when they are exactly the same: same effect, same potency level, same duration, and same form (a splash potion will not merge with a drinkable one).

Getting Potions to Combine

1. Craft or collect several identical potions, for example multiple Potions of Healing II.

2. Drag one stack onto another in your inventory grid, or shift-click them together in a chest.

3. If they refuse to merge, check the tooltip on each one — a difference in duration or amplifier level is the usual culprit.

4. Once merged, the stack shows a small number in the corner of the icon.

Practical Tips

  • Brew in batches so every bottle comes out identical; this guarantees clean stacking.
  • Keep your hotbar for a single merged stack and store overflow in a shulker box.
  • Because stacks are larger, you can carry a full combat loadout of potions without sacrificing inventory space for weapons or blocks.
  • If a stack looks like it won't combine, split it apart and re-stack manually — sometimes a partially used stack behaves oddly until you redistribute the bottles.
