How to Use the Spyglass Without Holding It (Quick Access)

Why quick access matters

Vanilla forces you to hold the spyglass in your hand to zoom, which means you can't keep a sword or pickaxe ready. Spyglass Improvements adds a quick-access keybind so you can toggle the zoom overlay on and off while keeping your normal hotbar item equipped.

Setting it up

1. Open Options → Controls → Key Binds and look for the Spyglass Improvements category.

2. Find the entry for the quick-access / toggle-zoom action and assign a key that doesn't clash with sprint, sneak, or your inventory key.

3. Return to the game. You no longer need the spyglass in your main hand — as long as you have one somewhere in your inventory (or the mod's configured requirement is met), pressing the key activates the zoom.

4. Press the key again to release the zoom and return to normal FOV.

Tips for use

• Bind the toggle to a mouse button if you PvP or scout terrain often; it's faster than reaching for a keyboard key.
• Because the zoom is a toggle rather than a hold, you can walk, jump, or eat while zoomed in.
• If the key does nothing, check that a spyglass is actually in your inventory and that no other mod has claimed the same keybind.
