How to Use Lava Sponges
Lava sponges work similarly to water sponges but are designed to absorb lava. Place a 
lava sponge in a lava-filled area and it will absorb the lava, transforming into a 
hot lava sponge. To reuse it, place the hot lava sponge on top of an ice block to cool it into a 
hardened lava sponge. Reheat the sponge by placing it in the Nether or by smelting it in a furnace—once reheated, it returns to its original state and is ready to absorb lava again. You can obtain lava sponges by crafting them, or by looting Ancient Cities and Bastions. The draining radius and absorption amount can be configured in your mod settings.
