Why Golden Spikes for XP

Golden spikes drop experience without any loot—perfect if you want pure XP grinding without managing inventory or storage. They kill mobs and award full experience as if a player dealt the killing blow.

Build an XP-Focused Farm

1. Create a mob spawning area or funnel (dark room, spawning platform, etc.)

2. Arrange Golden spikes where mobs will take damage and die

3. Stand nearby to collect experience orbs—they must be within range to count

4. Ensure mobs cannot escape; use walls or water to guide them into spike zones

Optimize Your Setup

Cluster spikes densely so mobs die quickly and reliably. Add fall damage above spikes to speed up kills. The faster mobs die, the more XP you generate per minute.

Combine with Other Tiers

You can mix Golden spikes with Diamond or Netherite spikes in the same farm—use Golden spikes in the kill zone and higher tiers elsewhere to get both experience and loot from different mob types.
