How to Use the Food Book to Track What You've Eaten

The Food Book is the core tool of this mod. It records every distinct food you eat and shows you which ones you've already tried, so you can deliberately vary your diet instead of spamming one crop.

Opening and Reading the Book

Craft the Food Book, then hold it and use it (right-click by default). A GUI opens listing foods you have eaten and foods still untried. Eaten entries are marked; untried ones are shown so you know what to hunt for. The book updates automatically as you eat — you do not need to manually log anything.

Using It to Plan Meals

Check the book before a long trip or boss fight. If your recent meals are all the same item, the book makes that obvious, and you can pick a food you have not eaten recently to keep your variety high. Keep the Food Book in your inventory or a lunchbox so you can consult it anywhere.

Tips

  • Eat a wide range of foods early to fill the book quickly.
  • Some foods may only be obtainable in certain biomes or dimensions — the book helps you spot the gaps.
  • If an entry seems missing, make sure you actually consumed the item rather than just crafting it.
