How to Set Up a Compression Blast Miner for Automated Mining
The
Compression Blast Miner is Spelunkery's answer to large-scale excavation. Instead of swinging a pickaxe for hours, you set up the miner and let it do the work. This guide covers what to prepare and how to run it safely.
Before you build
The miner is not an early-game block. You will need to have progressed through the mod's material chains first —
cinnabar, magnetite, and the various processed ores all feed into it. Do not attempt this on your first mining trip; get your processing set up first.
Setting it up
1. Choose a site with plenty of stone around it — the miner needs material to work through.
2. Clear a flat area for the miner and any chests or hoppers you want to feed output into.
3. Place the miner and connect your storage so drops do not scatter.
4. Provide whatever fuel or input the miner requires before starting it.
Running it safely
1. Light the surrounding area — an automated miner running in the dark is a mob magnet.
2. Do not stand directly in front of the working face.
3. Check output chests regularly so they do not back up and stall the miner.
4. Watch for brambles and
Dust Bunnies in the excavated area.
Once running, the miner turns a tedious branch-mine into a background task, freeing you to process the ore it produces.
