Understand Shield Blocking Mechanics

Variable Damage Reduction

Unlike vanilla shields that block all damage equally, Spartan Shields introduces variable damage reduction. Different shield types absorb different amounts of incoming damage based on their material and design. Heavy shields typically reduce more damage than lighter variants, making material choice important for your playstyle.

Knockback Resistance

Certain shields grant knockback resistance, allowing you to hold your ground when struck by powerful enemies or explosions. This prevents you from being pushed backward, which is especially useful when defending a position or fighting multiple mobs.

Retaliatory Damage

Some shields deal damage back to enemies that hit you while blocking. This passive effect punishes aggressive mobs and can help wear down tough enemies over time without you attacking directly.

Blocking Stance

Hold your shield up to activate blocking. The protection applies while you're actively defending. Different shield types may have slightly different blocking angles or coverage areas, so test each one to find your preferred defensive style.
