How to Tune Volume and Pitch for a Better Sound Mix

Why tuning matters

Sounds Mod adds many new effects on top of vanilla audio. Left at defaults, a busy base can end up with footsteps, block interactions, and UI clicks all competing for attention. Tuning volume and pitch per group lets you keep the immersion without drowning out music or important cues like mobs and damage.

A practical tuning pass

Open the configuration screen and work through categories one at a time. Start with the loudest, most frequent sounds, usually block breaking and footsteps, and bring their volume down until they sit comfortably under your music. Then raise pitch slightly on light materials and lower it on heavy ones to make the mix feel natural. For UI and inventory sounds, keep volume low so they inform rather than startle.

Checking the result

Leave the config and play normally for a few minutes: mine, walk, open chests, and fight. Listen for anything that still stands out or feels buried. Return to the screen and nudge only the offending group. Because each group is independent, small adjustments add up to a balanced mix quickly. If you later change resource packs or music volume, revisit these settings, since the balance you tuned depends on the rest of your audio.
