How to Build and Activate a Chimney

Crafting and Placement

Chimneys come in four material variants: Brick, Stone Brick, Terracotta, and Copper. Craft or obtain your chosen chimney block and place it vertically in your structure. The chimney will immediately begin emitting smoke particles from the top.

Starting Smoke Emission

Once placed, your chimney is active by default and will produce smoke. The smoke will rise upward and be affected by wind conditions in your world. No additional setup is required—simply place the block and it works.

If smoke isn't appearing, check that:

  • The chimney block is fully exposed at the top (not covered by blocks)
  • You haven't accidentally supplied a redstone signal to it
  • Particles are enabled in your game settings

Copper Chimneys

Copper variants will oxidize over time, changing color through different weathering stages. This is purely visual and doesn't affect smoke emission.
