Craft Wool Stairs in All Colors

Gathering Wool

Collect wool blocks by shearing sheep with shears, or craft wool from string at a crafting table. You'll need six wool blocks per stair recipe, so gather enough for your project. Different colored wool comes from different sheep—look for the color you want or dye wool using dye items.

Crafting Wool Stairs

Open your crafting table and place six wool blocks in a stair-step pattern:

• Place two blocks in the bottom row
• Place two blocks in the middle row, offset one space to the right
• Place two blocks in the top row, offset one more space to the right

This creates the characteristic stair shape in the crafting grid. Drag the resulting wool stairs into your inventory.

Building with Wool Stairs

Place your wool stairs in the world like regular stairs. They stack vertically and can be rotated to face any direction. Combine multiple colors to create rainbow patterns, soft transitions between rooms, or decorative rooflines. Wool stairs work well alongside wool slabs for detailed carpentry work.
