How to Change the Smooth Scrolling Animation Speed

Finding the setting

Once Smooth Scrolling is installed, its options live in the mod list rather than in vanilla's own settings menu. Open the mod list from the main menu, locate Smooth Scrolling, and open its config screen. The only value you need to worry about is the animation speed slider.

Choosing a value

This slider uses a normalized range where the lowest end means scrolling happens instantly (no visible animation) and the highest end means the scroll barely moves at all. Everything in between is a trade-off: a lower value gives you a faster, snappier animation, while a higher value gives you a slower, more drawn-out glide.

If the default feels sluggish when you flick through a long list, drag the slider toward the lower end. If it feels too twitchy and you want the motion to be more noticeable, push it higher. There is no single correct value — it depends on your mouse wheel, your sensitivity, and how much motion you find comfortable.

Testing it

Apply the change, then open a screen with a long scrollable list — the creative inventory or the server list are good candidates — and scroll with the wheel. Adjust and re-test until the motion feels natural. The setting applies immediately, so you do not need to restart the game between attempts.
