Fixing Smooth Scrolling That Feels Too Slow or Too Fast
Diagnose which direction you need
Before touching anything, decide what is actually wrong. If the list keeps gliding after you stop turning the wheel, the animation is too slow for your taste. If the list barely moves or the motion is over before you register it, the animation is too fast or effectively disabled.
Tuning the animation speed
Open the mod list, select Smooth Scrolling, and open its config. The animation speed slider is the only control that matters here. Lower values produce a faster animation; higher values produce a slower, longer glide. The extreme low end is instant scrolling and the extreme high end is no visible scrolling at all, so avoid parking the slider at either end unless that is genuinely what you want.
Move it one step at a time and test between changes. Small adjustments are easier to judge than large jumps.
Things that can make it feel inconsistent
- Mouse wheel type: a free-spinning wheel sends many small scroll events, which can make the animation look different from a notched wheel.
- Scroll amount per notch: if your operating system or mouse software sends large jumps per notch, the animation has further to travel and appears slower.
- Frame rate: very low frame rates make any eased animation look choppy rather than smooth.
If it still feels wrong after tuning, set the slider to the instant end to confirm the mod is the cause, then work back up from there.
