How to Climb Walls and Ceilings in Smart Moving Reforged

Grabbing Onto a Surface

Smart Moving Reforged lets you scale vertical surfaces and even hang from ceilings, but you have to be in the right state first. Walk up to a wall and hold the grab/climb key (check your controls menu under the Smart Moving category — it is a separate bind from vanilla sneak). While holding it, push forward into the wall. Your character will latch on and begin climbing upward as long as you keep the key held and continue pressing into the surface.

Ceiling and Overhang Movement

Once you are climbing, you can transition onto a ceiling or overhang by continuing to move upward past the lip of the block. The mod treats the underside of blocks as climbable while you are in the climbing state, so you can crawl along a ceiling hand-over-hand. Release the climb key to drop. If you run out of stamina or the mod's climb toggle is off, you will fall, so plan your route before committing to a long ceiling traverse.

Practical Tips

• Climbing drains the hunger bar faster than normal movement, so carry food.
• You cannot climb every surface — smooth, flat blocks work best; some modded or slippery blocks may not register.
• Combine climbing with a jump at the top of a wall to mantle onto the ledge instead of stopping short.
• If climbing does not engage, verify the keybind is not conflicting with another mod's grab key.
