How to Get Your First Saddle from a Small Horse Stable

Loot the Main Chest

Walk into the stable and open the chest inside. It is stocked specifically to help you saddle your first horse, so a saddle should be among the contents, along with treats. Take everything — you will want the treats for taming and the saddle for riding.

Find the Hidden Chest

A second, secret chest is hidden somewhere in the stable. This is the step most players miss. Search methodically:

• Break or look behind any decorative blocks that seem out of place.
• Check beneath the floor and under hay or bedding areas.
• Look above the stall dividers and in the roof space.
• Inspect the walls for a block that differs slightly in texture or orientation.

Use the Saddle

Once you have the saddle, approach one of the two horses in the pen. Feed it treats to raise its trust, then mount it repeatedly until it stops bucking. With the horse tamed, open your inventory, place the saddle in the horse's saddle slot, and you can ride immediately. If you want to keep the horse, craft or find a lead and walk it back to your base before it wanders.
