How to Make a Slime Carry an Item in SlimyBoyos

Getting a Slime to Pick Something Up

SlimyBoyos changes one core behavior: a slime can hold a single item, and it drops that item when it dies. To make this happen, you do not craft anything or open a menu. You simply put an item on the ground where a slime can reach it.

1. Find or spawn a slime. Any size works, but smaller slimes are easier to move around and less likely to shove you into a corner.

2. Drop exactly one item on the ground near the slime. Use your drop key (default Q) or place a single item from a stack.

3. Step back and watch. The slime will move onto the item and absorb it. Once absorbed, the item is no longer lying on the ground.

4. Check that it worked by killing the slime later. If it drops the item you fed it, the pickup succeeded.

Things That Trip Players Up

A slime only holds one item at a time. If you drop a second item while it is already carrying something, it will ignore the new one. Also, the item must be loose on the ground, not inside a chest, hopper, or your hand. If a slime will not pick something up, clear other dropped items nearby so it is not distracted, and make sure the item is not sitting on a block the slime cannot path onto. Once a slime is carrying an item, treat it as a walking storage slot: it keeps that item until it dies.
