Create Your First Sliding Door

Gather Materials

Collect four stripped logs of any wood type and one iron block. Stripped logs can be obtained by using an axe on regular logs, or by finding them in the creative inventory.

Craft the Basic Door

Open your crafting table and arrange the materials to create a basic sliding door. The exact recipe layout follows standard Minecraft crafting patterns—refer to your crafting menu for the visual guide.

Customize in the Stonecutter

Once you have your basic sliding door, place it into a Stonecutter block. This opens a menu displaying all available door styles and wood type variations. Select the style and wood combination that matches your build aesthetic.

Place Your Door

Position the customized door in the center of your doorway. Unlike regular doors, sliding doors are centered on a single block rather than placed on the frame edge. Make sure the adjacent block (where the door will slide into when opened) is empty or replaceable, as the door needs space to move sideways.

Your sliding door is now ready to use!
