Using Slime Traps to Control Mob Movement

Understanding Slime Trap Mechanics

Slime traps slow any mob that touches them, reducing movement speed significantly. This makes them excellent for crowd control and buying time during raids or when defending a position. Unlike damage traps, slime traps keep mobs alive but immobilized.

Strategic Placement

Place slime traps in front of damage-dealing traps to bunch mobs together and increase hit rates. Use them at chokepoints like doorways or bridge entrances to create bottlenecks. A line of slime traps can turn a mob swarm into a manageable trickle.

Combining Trap Types

Slime traps work best as part of a multi-trap system. Follow them with spike traps or barbed wire to maximize damage while mobs are slowed. Place wall stakes above slime traps in corridors to catch slowed mobs as they struggle forward.

Defensive Applications

During a raid, activate slime traps near your base entrance to give yourself time to prepare defenses or escape. They're particularly effective against fast-moving mobs like spiders and creepers, which lose their mobility advantage when slowed.
