Creating a Spike Trap Corridor for Mob Grinding
Designing the Corridor Layout
Spike traps deal consistent damage to any mob passing through them. Create a long, narrow corridor by building walls on both sides, leaving a single-block-wide path. The confined space prevents mobs from dodging and maximizes trap effectiveness.
Placement Strategy
Line both walls with spike traps, or alternate them in a checkerboard pattern for a more economical setup. Spike traps trigger when mobs walk over them, so ensure the path is clear of obstacles that might block mob movement. Test the corridor with a single mob first to confirm the flow.
Combining with Other Elements
Add slime traps to slow mobs as they enter, making them spend more time in the spike corridor. Use grass traps at the entrance to soften up incoming mobs before they reach the spikes. This layered approach maximizes damage output.
Automation Considerations
Position the corridor exit near a collection point for drops. You can funnel mobs through using water channels or mob-pushing mechanics. Keep the corridor well-lit or dark depending on your mob farm's needs.
