How to Set Up a Hearth Crystal as a Return Point

What the Hearth Crystal Does

The Hearth Crystal gives you a personal way back to a chosen spot without needing a full Teleporter pair at your destination. It is the item you carry so you can return home from wherever you are. Think of it as your anchor: you bind it to a location, then use it later to travel back there.

Binding It to a Location

Stand at the place you want to return to — your base, a farm, a mining outpost. Use the Hearth Crystal there to bind it. The crystal records that position. From then on, activating the crystal from elsewhere sends you back to the bound point. If you want to change your home, simply bind the crystal again at the new location; the old binding is replaced.

Using It While Exploring

Carry the bound Hearth Crystal in your inventory whenever you head out. When you are far from base and want to return, activate it. Because it is a personal item rather than a placed block, it works without a receiving Teleporter at the destination, which makes it ideal for exploration, caving, and long trips. Keep in mind any cooldown or charge behavior your configuration applies, and test it once near your base before relying on it deep underground.
