How to Upgrade from a Basic Magnet to an Advanced Magnet

Why Upgrade

A Basic Magnet handles everyday item pickup, but an Advanced Magnet generally offers a larger working radius and more configuration options. If you find yourself constantly walking over dropped items or want finer control over what gets pulled in, the advanced version is the next step.

Crafting the Advanced Magnet

Craft the Advanced Magnet using the Basic Magnet as a component along with the additional materials the recipe calls for. Check the recipe in JEI/REI in-game so you use the exact ingredients for your version. Once crafted, the advanced magnet replaces the basic one in your hotbar.

Using the Extra Options

Hold the Advanced Magnet and open its settings screen. You will typically find options to adjust the radius, toggle the magnet on or off, and sometimes filter which items are affected. Set a wider radius for mining trips and a tighter one for base work. Because the advanced magnet can reach farther, be careful near item frames, farms, or sorting systems where you do not want items moved.

• Keep the Basic Magnet as a backup or hand it to a friend.
• Bind a key or use the settings menu to quickly disable the magnet when needed.
• Pair the advanced magnet with a demagnetization coil if you want to switch it off remotely.
