Understanding the Ore Processing Chain

The Crusher is your key to maximizing ore value. Raw ores can be crushed into ore chunks, then crushed again into dust. This multi-step process is more efficient than smelting directly, especially when combined with other machines.

Setting Up a Crusher

Place a Crusher and connect it to your energy supply using Wires. Feed it raw ore—the Crusher will produce ore chunks as output. Collect these chunks and run them through the Crusher again to get dust.

Why This Matters

Dust can be smelted in an Electric Furnace or used in recipes for alloys via the Alloy Smelter. Some recipes may also produce multiple outputs or bonus items with a chance mechanic, so crushing gives you more opportunities for extra materials. Check your JEI (Just Enough Items) to see all available Crusher recipes and plan your processing pipeline accordingly.
