How to Create Custom Alloys in SilentGear Compat

Understanding the Alloy System

SilentGear Compat uses a data-driven material system, meaning alloys are defined in JSON files. The mod includes pre-made alloys like Sculk Alloy, Capsid Alloy, Bunny Steel, and many others from compatible mods. You can craft these alloys using a crafting station or furnace, depending on the alloy's recipe.

Locating and Modifying Alloy Recipes

Alloy recipes are stored in JSON files within the mod's data folder. To customize or create new alloys:

1. Navigate to your world's datapacks folder or the mod's config directory

2. Find the material definitions for existing alloys (e.g., plasteel.json, midnight_iron.json)

3. Copy an existing alloy file and rename it for your custom alloy

4. Edit the JSON to change the material name, ingredients, and properties

5. Add traits that suit your alloy's theme

Applying Your Custom Alloy

Once edited, place the JSON file back in the correct data folder. Reload your world or use /reload to apply changes. Your custom alloy will now be available for crafting gear in SilentGear's workstations.
