Assemble a Crew to Improve Ship Performance

Understand Crew Benefits

Crew members—whether players or villagers—improve your ship's turning speed and acceleration. Larger ships like the Caravel require a minimum crew to function properly; without enough members, steering becomes sluggish and unreliable.

Recruit Crew Members

Invite other players to board your ship, or bring villagers from your base. Lead villagers to your ship using their preferred trades or by placing job site blocks nearby. Right-click to bring them aboard.

Optimize Your Crew

Check your ship's crew capacity and minimum requirements. A Sailboat works fine solo, but a Cog or Caravel performs best when fully staffed. Extra crew members beyond the minimum grant bonus speed, so consider recruiting additional players or villagers for long ocean voyages.
