How to Tell Whether the Serified Font Pack Is Actually Loaded

Because the pack only changes lettering, it is easy to install it and then not notice whether it is doing anything. Here is how to confirm it is active and how to spot the difference.

Look for the Serif Tell-Tales

Open any menu with text — the main menu, inventory, or the Options screen. The vanilla font has uniform stroke width and no decorative feet on letters. The serif font shows thicker vertical strokes, thinner horizontal strokes, and small projecting serifs at the ends of letters like I, T, and L. Look at a capital I specifically: vanilla is a plain bar, serif has cross-strokes top and bottom.

Confirm It Is Selected, Not Just Downloaded

Go to Options → Resource Packs. A pack that is only in the Available column is not applied. Move it to Selected with the arrow, then click Done. The game reloads resources and the font changes immediately — no restart needed.

Rule Out Overrides

If the font still looks vanilla after selecting the pack, another selected pack above it is overriding the font files. Drag Serified Font to the top of the Selected list. Also check that you did not enable Force Unicode Font in Options → Language, which replaces the pack's glyphs with the built-in Unicode set and hides the serif styling entirely.

Test in a Fresh World

If menus look right but in-world text does not, load a new world to rule out a per-world resource pack override set through a datapack or server-side pack.
