How to Make the Serified Font Actually Readable on a Small GUI Scale

The serif lettering looks great at large sizes, but at a small GUI scale the thin strokes and semi-transparent anti-aliasing pixels can smear into a grey blur. You can fix this without giving up the pack entirely.

Adjust Your GUI Scale First

Open Options → Video Settings → GUI Scale and step it up one notch. The serif font renders its anti-aliasing at the pixel grid of your current scale, so a larger scale gives each glyph more room and the serifs stop merging. If your monitor is small, try the next scale up and check the inventory, chat, and tooltip text — those three are where blur shows up worst.

Tune the Font in the Language Options

Go to Options → Language and look at the Force Unicode Font toggle. Turning it off keeps the resource pack's custom glyphs active instead of falling back to the vanilla bitmap font, which is what you want. If text still looks fuzzy, switch your in-game language to one that uses the same Latin glyph set so the pack's serif shapes are used consistently across menus.

Check Your Display Scaling

If you play on a high-DPI display, set your operating system's scaling to an integer value (100%, 200%) rather than a fractional one. Fractional OS scaling resamples the already anti-aliased font pixels a second time, which is the most common cause of mushy serif text. After changing it, restart the game so the GUI scale recalculates.
