Protecting Yourself from SCP-149

Blood Flies are dangerous not because of direct damage, but because of infection. When attacked, you risk contracting SCP-149-A, which causes you to lay Blood Fly eggs that hatch into more flies.

Armor is your best defense. Wearing less than 12 armor points gives attackers a 50% infection chance per hit. With 12 or more armor points, this drops to just 6%. Heavy armor significantly reduces your infection risk.

If you become infected, isolate yourself from villagers and other players to prevent spread. Blood Flies often attack in groups, so avoid areas where they congregate.

Natural protection exists: Bats are natural predators of Blood Flies and will kill them instantly within a 2-block radius. Keeping bats nearby or in your base provides passive defense against outbreaks.
