Set Up a Sustainable Water Source
Understanding Water Depletion
In Scarcity Mod, water source blocks are finite. Each time you fill a glass bottle from a water block, the source diminishes. You can only collect four bottles before that block is completely consumed.
Creating a Renewable Water System
To maintain a steady water supply:
1. Locate multiple water sources — Find rivers, lakes, or ocean biomes rather than relying on a single spring.
2. Plan your collection route — Mark water blocks you'll use, spacing them out so you don't exhaust one area too quickly.
3. Use cauldrons strategically — Cauldrons can catch rain and provide an alternative water source during storms.
4. Consider water farming — If you have access to the Nether or other dimensions, explore whether alternative water mechanics apply.
5. Ration your bottles — Only fill bottles when necessary. Drink directly from water blocks when possible to preserve your supply.
Long-Term Planning
Early game survival depends on finding a biome with abundant water access. Avoid building your base in desert or savanna biomes unless you've secured multiple water sources nearby. Keep a mental map of all water blocks in your explored territory.
