Finding an Intact Stronghold After Installing the Mod

Why location matters

Because Save My Stronghold only protects strongholds as they generate, the key to finding an intact one is making sure the chunks around it were created while the mod was active. Strongholds generate in rings around the world origin, so the nearest one is usually a few hundred blocks out from spawn.

Step-by-step

1. Confirm the mod is loaded before you travel far from spawn. If you installed it mid-game, chunks you have already visited are unaffected.

2. Use your normal stronghold-finding method — throwing Eyes of Ender and following them — to locate the nearest stronghold.

3. As you approach, watch for the telltale stone brick walls, iron bars, and the End Portal room. With the mod active, you should see continuous corridors rather than rooms chopped off by ravines or flooded by ocean water.

4. If the stronghold you find is still damaged, it likely generated before the mod was installed. Move on to the next stronghold ring, or generate a new world.

5. Mark the location with a waypoint or coordinates so you can return to the End Portal room later.

An intact stronghold means fewer blocked passages and a much easier path to the portal room.
