How to Fix Low FPS in Crowded Areas With RuOK

Diagnose before you tweak

Low frame rate around many entities is usually a rendering load problem, not a CPU problem. RuOK attacks this by limiting how many entities are drawn and by culling them based on your position. Before changing anything, note where the lag happens: a mob farm, a village, a raid, or a busy server hub. That tells you which setting matters most.

Step-by-step optimization

1. Open the RuOK settings interface.

2. Drop the graphics preset one tier (for example, Normal to Low) and observe the effect in the laggy area.

3. If it is not enough, go to the entity display section and reduce the maximum number of displayed entities.

4. Shorten the entity display distance so far-away mobs stop being rendered.

5. Re-test in the same spot. Repeat, lowering one setting at a time, until the frame rate is acceptable.

Getting the balance right

Lower the entity count before lowering distance, since count has the bigger impact in dense farms. Keep distance generous enough that you can still see threats approaching. If performance is fine everywhere except one build, consider whether that build genuinely needs every mob visible, or whether culling is an acceptable trade. Adjust, test, and keep the smallest settings that still play comfortably.
