Mine Around Intrusive Rock Pockets for Baked Stone
What Are Intrusive Rock Pockets?
Large pockets of intrusive rocks like granite and
gabbro generate deep underground. These aren't just valuable ores—they transform the surrounding stone through intense heat.
How to Use Intrusive Rocks to Your Advantage
Step 1: Locate a pocket. As you mine deep underground, you'll encounter large clusters of granite or gabbro. These stand out visually from regular stone.
Step 2: Mine around the edges. Don't just extract the intrusive rock itself. Look at the stone immediately surrounding these pockets.
Step 3: Collect baked stone. The extreme heat from these igneous intrusions bakes and transforms the adjacent stone into new metamorphic rock types. Mine these transformed blocks—they're often more valuable or useful than standard stone.
Step 4: Plan your mining route. When exploring deep caves, prioritize areas near intrusive rock pockets. You'll find a greater variety of rare stone types in these thermally altered zones.
This mechanic rewards careful observation and makes deep mining more interesting, as you're not just looking for ore but also for geologically transformed blocks.
