Find Specific Rock Types in Your Biome
Understanding Biome-Specific Stone Layers
Rocks Done Right generates different stone types depending on where you dig. The stone you find underground directly reflects the biome on the surface above it.
How to Locate What You Need
For sedimentary rocks like
limestone,
shale, and
mudstone, dig near the surface in temperate biomes. These form in shallow layers and are your best bet for early-game mining.
For metamorphic rocks like marble,
quartzite, and
graphite, you'll need to dig much deeper. These form under extreme pressure and heat far below the surface.
For igneous rocks like
rhyolite and
gabbro, seek out volcanic mountain biomes. These new biomes spawn near steep ocean cliffs and contain dark volcanic stone throughout.
For specific soil types, pay attention to the surface biome. Forests sit atop limestone and marble, jungles have unique topsoil layers, and snowy areas contain their own soil variants.
Pro tip: If you're searching for a particular rock type, first identify which biome naturally contains it, then travel to that biome and start mining downward. The deeper you go, the more the stone composition changes due to heat and pressure.
