Fixing Confusion After Removing the Block Highlight

Why Aiming Feels Different

With Remove Mouseover Highlight active, the visual confirmation of your target disappears. New users often report that they cannot tell which block they are about to mine or place against. This is expected and temporary — the underlying targeting logic is unchanged, only the drawn outline is gone.

Practical Ways to Relearn Your Aim

1. Stand still and center your crosshair on a single block before clicking, rather than sweeping across several.

2. Practice placing blocks against walls and floors in a creative world until you can predict the target without the box.

3. When building precise structures, place a temporary reference block and aim relative to it.

4. For mining, look at the center of the block face you want rather than its edge, since edge aiming was previously guided by the outline.

5. If you truly need the outline back for a specific task, temporarily remove or disable the mod, then re-enable it afterward.

When It Is Not the Mod

If blocks behave unexpectedly — for example, you break a block you did not intend to — check whether another mod alters reach or targeting. Remove Mouseover Highlight only affects rendering, so any change in actual block selection comes from elsewhere.
