How to Fix a Reinforced Shulker Box That Won't Open or Craft

Check the Tier Chain

Most problems come from skipping a tier. Upgrades must go Copper → Iron → Gold → Diamond → Netherite in order. If you try to jump from Copper straight to Diamond, the recipe will not work. Confirm you are combining the box with the correct next-tier Reinforced Chest, not a random chest or a lower tier.

Netherite Needs a Smithing Table

If your Diamond box will not upgrade, you are probably at a crafting table. Netherite conversion happens at a Smithing Table with a Netherite Ingot and the required upgrade item. Move to a Smithing Table and try again. Also make sure the box is in the correct smithing input slot.

Box Won't Open or Shows Wrong Layout

If the box opens but looks wrong, you likely changed the screen type or scroll rows. Reopen the interface and switch between SINGLE and SCROLL, then adjust rows between 6 and 9 until it looks right. If the box will not open at all, check it is placed on a solid surface and not obstructed. Finally, confirm the Reinforced Chests dependency is installed — without it, the crafting recipes for the base chests will not appear and nothing will combine.
