Troubleshooting a Construction Stick That Won't Use Network Blocks

Start With the Link

The most common cause is a missing or stale link. Right-click the Refined Storage controller with the Construction Stick to (re)bind it. If you recently moved bases or rebuilt your network, the old link points at a controller that no longer exists, so re-binding is required.

Check Range and Power

The stick only pulls from the network while you are within range of the bound controller. If you walk far from your base, the connection drops and the stick reverts to inventory blocks. Also confirm the network is powered; an unpowered controller cannot serve requests, so the stick will silently fall back.

Verify the Block Is Actually Stored

The stick can only place a block type that exists in the network. If you are trying to place something you have never stored (or have fully used up), the request fails and the stick uses your inventory instead. Check your storage terminal for the block.

Read the Lines

Use the line color as your diagnostic. Blue means it is working. Normal color means one of the above problems is active. Work through link, range, power, and stock in that order, and re-test after each fix by placing a single block and watching the lines.
