Building Without Carrying Blocks in Your Inventory

The Core Workflow

Once your Construction Stick is linked to a Refined Storage network, you no longer need stacks of blocks in your inventory to build. Simply select the block type you want to place and start building as normal. The stick requests each block from the network on demand, so a single stick can place hundreds of blocks as long as the network holds them.

What You Actually Need On You

  • The linked Construction Stick itself.
  • Access to the network (you must be within range of the controller/network you bound to).
  • The desired block type present somewhere in storage.

You do not need to keep the block in your hotbar or inventory. This is the main convenience: your inventory stays free for tools, food, and loot while you build.

Reading the Feedback

Watch the placement lines. Blue lines mean the stick is drawing from Refined Storage. If the lines revert to the normal color, the stick has fallen back to using items from your inventory (or has nothing to pull), which is your cue to check network range, power, or stock.

Practical Tip

Keep a small buffer of the block in your inventory as a fallback for when you step outside network range mid-build, so you are not forced to stop.
