Tame Axolotls and Keep Them on Land

Getting Axolotls to Follow You

Unlike vanilla axolotls, this mod lets you tame axolotls so they become loyal companions both on land and in water. To tame an axolotl, you'll need a tropical fish bucket.

Taming Steps

1. Locate a wild axolotl in a cave or water source

2. Obtain a tropical fish bucket (catch tropical fish with a bucket)

3. Right-click the axolotl with the tropical fish bucket

4. The axolotl will now follow you and respond to pet commands

Managing Your Tamed Axolotl

Once tamed, right-click your axolotl to cycle through pet states: follow, stay, or wander. This gives you flexibility—have it follow during exploration, set it to stay while you build, or let it wander around your base. Tamed axolotls retain their ability to fight alongside you in water while also being able to walk on land with you, making them uniquely versatile pets compared to other animals in the mod.
