Detect Specific Entity Types with Pressure Plates

Using Entity-Specific Pressure Plates for Selective Activation

The mod adds four new pressure plate types, each triggering only for specific entity categories. This lets you create systems that respond only to players, mobs, items, or other entities.

Choosing the Right Plate

1. Identify what should trigger your system—player only, hostile mobs, items on the ground, etc.

2. Place the appropriate pressure plate at the activation point

3. Connect redstone from the plate to your mechanism

4. Test with different entities to confirm only the intended type triggers it

Design Ideas

  • Player-only doors: Prevent mobs from opening your base entrances
  • Item sorters: Use item-detection plates to trigger collection systems when drops land
  • Mob traps: Trigger hazards only when hostile mobs walk over the plate
  • Selective lighting: Activate lights only when players approach, not for wandering animals
  • Combine with gates: Use a Detector gate alongside pressure plates for more complex filtering

These plates are far more efficient than trying to filter entities with comparators and containers, making your contraptions both cleaner and more reliable.
