Build an Automatic Door with Sight Sensors
Creating a Look-Activated Entrance
Sight Sensors trigger whenever a player looks at them, making them perfect for hands-free door systems without needing pressure plates or buttons.
Basic Door Setup
1. Place a
Sight Sensor in front of where you want your door to be—embed it in a wall or frame so it's visible
2. Connect redstone from the Sight Sensor to a piston or piston door mechanism
3. Add a repeater or delay if you want the door to stay open for a moment before closing
4. Test by looking at the sensor—the door should activate
Improving Your Design
- Use a
Timer gate to control how long the door stays open after being looked at - Combine multiple Sight Sensors around your entrance for redundancy
- Place the sensor behind glass or in a decorative block to make it less obvious
- For two-way doors, use a Two Way Repeater to handle signals from sensors on both sides
Sight Sensors work best in bases where you want a futuristic or automated feel without visible activation mechanisms.
