How to Fix the Recast Mod Not Auto-Casting After a Catch
If your fishing rod isn't recasting automatically after you catch something, the cause is usually something simple about how you're fishing rather than a broken install. Work through these checks before assuming the mod failed.
Common Reasons It Won't Recast
1. You reeled in with no catch. The mod only auto-casts after a successful catch. If you right-click early or the bobber returns nothing, the rod stops fishing normally — that's intended behavior, not a bug.
2. You're not using a fishing rod. The mod modifies the vanilla rod's behavior; other items won't recast.
3. You switched items mid-catch. Changing your held item cancels the fishing state, so no recast can occur.
4. The line hit something other than water. If the bobber lands on land or a non-water block, no catch happens and therefore no recast.
Getting It Working Again
Cast manually once more and let a full catch complete. When the fish or item is reeled in, the line should immediately fly back out on its own. If it still doesn't, confirm the mod is actually loaded for your world and that no other fishing-related mod is overriding rod behavior. Once a single successful catch triggers a recast, you'll know it's working.
