Leverage Parry to Defend Against Projectiles
How Parry Works
Parry is a shield mechanic that reflects incoming projectiles back toward their source. When timed correctly, a shield block can send arrows, fireballs, and other projectiles back at attackers, turning ranged attacks into your advantage.
Performing a Parry
1. Equip a shield in your off-hand.
2. Hold right-click to raise your shield when you see incoming projectiles.
3. Time your block to intercept the projectile mid-flight—blocking too early or late fails the parry.
4. The projectile bounces back toward the attacker automatically.
5. Lower your shield (stop holding right-click) to prepare for the next threat.
Parry Tips and Tactics
- Parry works against arrows, crossbow bolts, and magical projectiles like fireballs.
- Practice against skeletons or other ranged mobs to develop timing instincts.
- Parry is most effective when you can see the projectile coming—use sound cues and visual awareness.
- Some projectiles may have different parry windows; experiment to learn each type.
- In PvP, successful parries can turn the tide by eliminating an opponent's ranged advantage.
- Netherite shields may offer enhanced parry properties—test them in combat.
