How to Maximize Loot from Balloons

Choose Your Hunting Ground

Balloons spawn more frequently in open areas away from other players. If you're on a multiplayer server, venture far from your base or other settlements to increase spawn rates. Single-player worlds will see consistent balloon activity without this limitation.

Prepare Your Bow

Bring a bow with plenty of arrows—this is your primary tool for shooting down balloons. Weak projectiles like snowballs or eggs won't work, so focus on archery. Consider bringing multiple bows in case one breaks during extended hunting sessions.

Hunt Strategically

Walk through open terrain and frequently look upward at the sky. Balloons drift randomly, so patience is key. Once you spot one, aim carefully and shoot it down. The balloon will fall as a chest.

Collect Quickly

Fallen chests disappear after ten minutes, so collect your loot immediately. Don't leave chests unattended. Higher rarity balloons (rare, epic, legendary) offer better rewards, including enchanted books and diamonds, so they're worth the extra effort to track down.
