Understand Crater Formation and Damage Zones

How Craters Form

The mod uses real-world physics scaled to Minecraft's block system (1 block = 1 meter). When a bomb detonates, it calculates destruction based on distance from ground zero, creating realistic crater shapes that vary by environment.

Damage Zones by Distance

Different materials break at different distances from the blast center:

  • Innermost: Stone, dirt, and hard blocks vaporize completely
  • Mid-range: Softer blocks like wood, sand, and gravel break
  • Outer edge: Only fragile blocks like glass and leaves are affected

Special Crater Features

Underwater detonations fill craters with water, creating permanent lakes. Underground explosions carve deep shafts reaching toward bedrock. Airbursts create wider, shallower craters. The mod spreads block destruction over time to prevent lag, and unloaded chunks update when you walk near them afterward.

Heat Damage

Mobs caught in the open heat flash zone take fire damage. Those sheltered behind solid blocks survive. Trees within the heat zone burn down to their trunks.
